Greater
Trinity Missionary Baptist Church
History
A small Bible Study group
was started by Paul A. Stoot, Sr. in his home in June of 1992. The rapid growth in
attendance of that faithful few necessitated moving to larger
quarters and in January of 1993, the Greater Trinity Missionary
Baptist Church was born.
This new home was located at the Holiday Inn in South Everett and
regular services began.
New community relationships were established with this move
and have continued and expanded to this day, reflecting the vision
of Pastor Stoot.
God opened a door and GTMBC was offered the opportunity to purchase
two acres of prime property with entrances from two active streets.
The property is located on the corner of 4th Avenue and
112th Street in South Everett. This new property of GTMBC
contained two buildings that provided the permanent home for the
church with a sanctuary, additional classrooms and offices as well
as a spacious fellowship hall.
This was just the beginning of the blessings that God had in
store for Pastor Stoot and the congregation.
This congregation, which
started with 8-10 families, has now grown into multi-cultural body
of Bible Believing followers of Christ that numbers almost active
250 members. The
transient nature of the military family members with which Greater
Trinity has been blessed has provided opportunities for an extended
ministry of God’s word that reaches far and wide and has not
negatively affected stable membership. There have been 102 new
members added to the rolls since January of 2002.
When Greater
Trinity started, it organized a choir with the talented Sister
Tammie Stoot being the Director of Music, a position that she holds
to this day. An Usher
Board and Women’s Ministry were also established in the
beginning. Ministries
and auxiliaries have expanded to include: Youth Ministry, Men’s
Ministry, Board of Mothers, Deacons, Youth Choir, Pastor’s Aide, New
Member’s Ministry, Visitor’s Ministry, Intercessory Prayer Ministry,
Family Aide Ministry, Recovery Ministry, and a Beautification
Ministry just to name a few.
There is also an active Children’s Church and Sunday School
is offered for all ages.
In February
1999, under the Leadership of the Pastor, the Beautification
Ministry was able to give the Church a facelift by installing new
windows and carpets in the Sanctuary. In June of that same year,
the sanctuary was transformed by the addition of new pews and pulpit
furniture.
In 1999 Greater
Trinity also witnessed the realization of another vision given to
Pastor Stoot when the Greater Trinity Christian Learning Academy
opened in April. This
highly regarded Pre-School with its before and after school program,
Operation Latchkey, are housed in the Education Building and in
rooms in the church.
The children who leave the Academy and move into public
schools are academically ahead of the other students of their age
and experience level.
Quality education and care are provided to the nearly 60
students currently enrolled.
True to the vision of the
Pastor, a Multi-Purpose Sports Court has been completed and is open
for community use. This
major accomplishment was due to the support of many with whom Pastor
Stoot formed a partnership and shared his God-given vision. This community supported
facility is in constant use and accommodates all ages and many
different sports.
As we look ahead, not
only do we believe that the church will continue to grow and
prosper, but also that that growth will enable us to retire our
building debt by the end of 2010.
Although history is a
record of the past, it is also the beginning of the future. And we see the future of the
Greater Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of
Pastor Paul A. Stoot, Sr. as being bright and blessed.
